Durability starts with the details
A core part of our quality commitment is the precisely engineered corner elements used in Hobby caravans. Made from PU foam and a robust ABS/PMMA composite, they join the front and side walls securely and are water-resistant, highly insulating and visually striking. Their rounded shape not only defines the unmistakable design language of our vehicles, but also contributes to their high strength and durability.
Every other body component follows the same principle: the side walls are constructed using a durable sandwich structure consisting of EPS foam, wood and aluminium sheet – complemented by an extremely robust window sill made from an HPL composite with a PET/XPS core and a special MultiTec layer. The result is a body structure that retains its shape over time, offers excellent insulation and is optimally protected against moisture.

The floor structure combines an easy-care PVC surface with a sturdy wooden panel, fully bonded EPS insulation and a sealed load-bearing wooden base – for stability, durability and a comfortable living environment.

The side wall consists of an exterior aluminium sheet with a textured hammer finish, EPS insulation and a wooden panel with a decorative interior surface – fully bonded for optimal insulation, durability and a distinctive appearance.

The roof structure features a robust aluminium sheet, EPS insulation and an interior wooden panel with a decorative finish – providing protection, heat insulation and a harmonious interior atmosphere.

The PU foam used for corner elements, inserts and reinforcements can be moulded into any shape using the injection moulding process – and is both water-resistant and highly insulating.
Body technology – motorhomes

Lasting warmth
All Hobby motorhomes are built to handle cold climates and winter conditions. The 42 mm-thick GRP floor with high-quality XPS heat insulation offers significantly better thermal properties than conventional Styrofoam, creating a cosy interior climate – even when the outside temperature falls below freezing. The tough GRP underfloor coating provides long-term protection against moisture and rot – so you can enjoy your vehicle with confidence for years to come.

The roof of Hobby motorhomes is also reinforced with GRP, making it highly resistant to hail damage. The roof vent is fully sealed and keeps out wind and water – even while driving. The carefully designed roof contours also ensure controlled drainage of rainwater.

A standout feature is the roof scoop, which is fully insulated with PU foam to effectively prevent condensation. Reinforcing elements made from PU foam add structural strength to both the roof scoop and the entire roof.

All semi-integrated models come as standard with an opening roof vent above the cab, fitted with a pleated blind and fly screen. The blind is neatly concealed and blends seamlessly into the roof vent’s overall design.

Lowered rear
The lowered rear of the low-frame chassis ensures maximum garage dimensions. Frost protection is ensured by XPS floor insulation. The garage doors are fitted with gas struts, ensuring they stay securely in place when open.

EPP wheel arches
The EPP material used in the wheel arches creates a unique structure that is lightweight, strong and moisture-resistant. It also boasts outstanding thermal insulation values.

Thermal insulation – built in
Cosy comfort even on cold days: the 23mm-thick van floor features high-grade XPS heat insulation and a durable GRP coating underneath to protect against moisture and rot. A pleasant interior climate is ensured thanks to smart air circulation – hot air pipes running through the double floor of the seating area provide gentle, indirect underfloor heating. At the same time, natural winter vents between the insulated bodywork and interior furniture reliably prevent a build-up of condensation.

Insulation that works
The all-round B6 high-performance insulation with a material thickness of 5 to 10 mm ensures stable interior temperatures throughout the entire body section – including structural frames and smaller surfaces – and prevents thermal bridging.

Tested quality

At Hobby, we place great importance on build quality. That’s why Hobby vehicles are equipped throughout with ventilation systems, thermal management solutions and insulating materials. In addition, every model undergoes independent climate chamber testing before it reaches the market – ensuring it meets Hobby’s high quality standards. A key part of this process is the heat-up test in accordance with DIN EN 1646-1:2018-04. During this test, the vehicle is exposed to extreme temperatures of -15°C for several hours, after which it is heated using the standard heating system. The goal is to reach a comfortable onboard temperature of +20°C within four hours. The water supply system is also tested for functionality, and a thermal imaging camera is used to identify areas of high heat loss inside the vehicle.
Following this, the vehicle is subjected to a detailed inspection both inside and out. Particular attention is paid to the temperature difference between the interior and exterior, as well as any possible damage or deformation to the bodywork or furniture. Only once a model has successfully passed all tests multiple times is it approved by Hobby for sale.
